Scope
Scope: This document specifies the terms and definitions for the rearing and management of beef-breeding heifers, as well as the rearing and management of beef-breeding heifers. This document is applicable to beef-breeding heifer farms (households); Main technical content: 4. Rearing of beef-breeding heifers 4.1 General requirements The diet of beef-breeding heifers should mainly consist of high-quality roughage and silage, with a moderate body condition maintained at all stages. The rearing of beef-breeding heifers can be carried out either by grazing or indoor feeding. The feed should comply with the requirements of NY 5032, and the daily ration should be formulated in accordance with NY/T 815. The rearing and management should comply with the requirements of NY/T 5128. 4.2 Early rearing According to the growth and development laws and physiological changes of beef-breeding heifers, heifers aged 7 months to 1 year are in the early rearing stage. The daily weight gain of heifers in the early rearing stage should be around 0.4 kg to 0.8 kg. Local heifers should reach a weight of 200 kg at 1 year of age, and hybrid heifers should reach a weight of 250 kg to 300 kg at 1 year of age. Indoor feeding should mainly use high-quality hay and roughage, with supplementary concentrates accounting for 25% to 30% of the dry matter in the daily ration. Under grazing conditions, supplementary roughage and concentrates should be provided after returning to the shed, with the amount of roughage supplementation ensuring that the heifers can consume enough. The supplementary concentrates should be 1 kg to 1.5 kg per head per day. 4.3 Middle rearing Heifers aged 1 year to first mating are in the middle rearing stage. The daily weight gain of heifers in the middle rearing stage should be around 0.6 kg. Local heifers should reach a weight of 260 kg to 300 kg at 16 to 18 months of age, and hybrid heifers should reach a weight of 300 kg to 350 kg at 16 to 18 months of age. In
