Scope

This standard specifies the measurement methods for the particle size distribution/fiber length and diameter distribution of particulate matter. Both Methods A and B can be used for pure products or commercial products. Method A measures the particle size distribution (effective hydrodynamic radius) and is only applicable to powdered products that are insoluble in water (less than 10 -6 g/L). Method B measures the fiber length and diameter distribution and is only applicable to fibrous products. The impact of impure particle shapes should be taken into account.
