Basic Information
Scope
Scope: This document specifies the terms and definitions, environmental requirements of the growing area, yield indicators, variety selection, sowing time, land preparation, sowing, field management, and harvesting for the cultivation of root chicory (Cichorium intubus L.). This standard applies to the cultivation and management of root chicory for spring sowing in Qinghai region. Main technical content: 7.1 Land preparation: Deep plowing the soil to a depth of more than 35cm, removing the root stubs and residues of previous crops, leveling the soil, and thoroughly watering it. Before sowing, evenly apply 3,000kg/667m2 of composted farmyard manure or 1,000kg/667m2 of commercial organic fertilizer, and 40kg/667m2 of nitrogen-phosphorus-potassium compound fertilizer (with a content of 15:15:15 or higher) (the fertilizer application amount can be adjusted according to the soil fertility). The fertilizers shall comply with the requirements of GB/T 15063-2020. Till the soil to a depth of 20-25cm, harrow twice to compact the soil, make ridges with a width of 50-60cm and a height of 15-20cm, and cover the ridge with a 90cm-wide film. 7.2 Sowing: - Sowing time requirements: The sowing temperature in the 10cm topsoil should be above 7°C. Sow early according to the local climate and soil moisture conditions. In Xining region, sowing is generally carried out in late April or early May. - Sowing method: Single-row direct sowing with 1-2 seeds per hole, sowing depth of 0.5-1cm, and covering the seeds with a small amount of soil after sowing. Row spacing is 35-40cm, and plant spacing is 15-25cm. - Sowing rate: 0.10kg/667m2 to 0.20kg/667m2. After sowing and covering the seeds, compact the soil promptly to retain moisture.
