Scope

Scope: This standard specifies the terms and definitions, site selection, tree structure, soil, fertilizer and water management, disease and pest prevention and control, shaping and pruning, flower and fruit management, and fruit harvesting techniques for the simplified cultivation of Alar grey dates. This standard applies to mature grey date orchards, but not to Jun dates or other date varieties. Main technical content: The fruit-growing area of Alar accounts for 872,900 mu, of which 601,400 mu are used for growing dates, accounting for 68.90% of the total fruit-growing area. The total fruit production reached 1.6849 million tons, with a date production of 1.0762 million tons, accounting for 63.87% of the total fruit production. Dates have become one of the local pillar industries. In recent years, grey dates have gradually gained recognition in the local area, and the production of Alar grey dates has been increasing year by year. However, date growers currently use a variety of cultivation methods, and there is a lack of a simple and easy-to-operate, labor-saving new cultivation model. In addition, the current situation of high production costs, poor quality, and low prices of dates calls for the exploration of a new cultivation model with high mechanization, simple pruning methods, and excellent quality through simplified cultivation trials of trunk-shaped dates, in order to improve quality and efficiency. To enable local date growers to master simple and easy-to-learn grey date cultivation techniques and increase their economic income, this technical specification has been formulated.
