Basic Information
Scope
This document provides general guidelines for evaluating/verifying the electrical insulation materials (EIM) and electrical insulation systems (EIS) used in equipment under ionizing radiation. In addition to sensors, drives/motors, and connectors and terminals, cables are typical electrical devices that apply EIM and EIS, including low-voltage power cables, control cables, and instrumentation cables. Cables are simple in design and are ideal for studying the degradation process of EIM and EIS. These research results can also be applied to electrical devices such as sensors, drives/motors, and connectors and terminals.
This document is applicable to evaluation/verification procedures that simulate the simultaneous effects of different temperatures and radiation intensities.
This document is not applicable to detailed test procedures for characteristic testing methods.
Note 1: When evaluating certain specific products using this document, it may be necessary to use other procedures related to the product.
Note 2: The procedures specified in this document contain certain emerging technologies, so in the evaluation process, the gained experience and specific conditions can be taken into account.
