Scope
Scope: This document specifies the terminology definitions, prevention and control principles, and prevention and control measures for potato scab disease, as well as the grading of disease indexes. This document is applicable to the production of detoxified seed potatoes and commercial potatoes. Main technical content: 3. Terminology and definitions The following terms and definitions are applicable to this document: 3.1 Potato scab disease: A soil-borne disease caused by pathogenic Streptomyces species that harm potato tubers. 3.2 Pathogens of potato scab disease: Streptomyces scabies, which causes acidic scab; Streptomyces turgidiscabies, which causes convex scab; and Streptomyces galilaeus and Streptomyces Bobili, among more than 30 other species. 3.3 Symptoms of potato scab disease: It mainly harms potato tubers. After infection, brown spots appear on the tuber surface, which gradually expand. The tissue around the infection point necrotizes, and the tuber surface becomes rough with lignified tissues, forming convex, concave, or flat scab lesions (see Appendix A). 4. Prevention and control principles The principle is "prevention-oriented, integrated prevention and control," and the goal is "green and safe, soil conservation." Comprehensive prevention and control should involve agricultural prevention, physical prevention, chemical prevention, and biological prevention, which should be compatible and coordinated. 5. Prevention and control measures 5.1 Agricultural measures 5.1.1 Variety selection: Use high-quality, scab-resistant varieties. Recommended varieties are listed in Appendix B. 5.1.2 Seed potato selection: After hardening the detoxified tissue-cultured seedlings used for primary seed propagation, wash off the culture medium with 0.5% potassium permanganate solution, rinse with clean water, and remove old roots.
