Scope

Scope: This document specifies the terms and definitions, technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules, marking, packaging, transportation, storage, and shelf life of Huaiwei Qiannian Hexie (Lotus Seed). This document applies to lotus seeds processed from fresh Su Hexi and Be Hexi, which are removed of the peel, the seeds are extracted, peeled, dried or not dried, sorted, and packaged. Main technical content: **4.1 Raw Material Requirements** 4.1.1 Su Hexi: Also known as Chicken Head Rice, with a brown-yellow or brown-brown color, large seeds, and round, glutinous kernels; no rot or odor, and comply with GB 2762 and GB 2763. 4.1.2 Be Hexi: Also known as Thorny Hexi, with a gray-green or black-brown color, smaller seeds, and nearly spherical kernels with a Japonica texture; no rot or odor, and comply with GB 2762 and GB 2763. 4.1.3 Production Water: It should comply with GB 5749. **4.2 Sensory Requirements** The sensory requirements should comply with Table 1. **Table 1: Sensory Requirements for Lotus Seeds** **Item** **Requirements** **Test Methods** **Fresh Lotus Seeds** **Dry Lotus Seeds** **Color** Light brown, pink, dark red, or white; No powdery substance on the outer surface; Take an appropriate amount of samples and place them in a clean white porcelain dish.
