Scope

This standard applies to the monitoring of the sulfonation value of engine oils such as crankcase oils used in petroleum-based and hydrocarbon-based diesel engines with a sulfur content greater than 500 μg/g. This standard does not apply to the monitoring of the sulfonation value of used oils in equipment that uses low-sulfur fuels.
