Scope

This standard is applicable to the detection of dissolved metals in insulating oil (derived from overheating or arc discharge, or both) and some suspended metal particles (usually from wear and tear). When the element concentration in the insulating oil exceeds the upper limit of the standard curve, it can be diluted with appropriate diluents for measurement, which does not affect the accuracy. The analysis results are related to the size of the suspended particles. The measurement results for particles larger than a few micrometers are lower. Therefore, this standard is not suitable for quantitative determination of insoluble suspended particles.
