Scope

This section applies to the design, construction, and inspection of enclosed air-cushion boats with a total length of less than 8m, which are operated in inland rivers and calm maritime waters, as well as in areas such as ice surfaces, snowfields, beaches, swamps, and sandy shores. Air-cushion boats with a rigid hull structure similar to that of conventional ships, but with flexible airbags replaced by pointed skirts or similar devices, may also be used as reference for this purpose.
