Scope

This standard specifies the product testing and inspection, as well as the marking requirements for position lights used with various lifesaving equipment, including those on lifeboats. It specifically applies to position lights used on ships that comply with the requirements of the amended 1974 International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) and meet the IMO's LSA Code, and have passed the type approval of national maritime safety management authorities or agencies. In addition to meeting IMO requirements, the manufacture of position lights may also consider other basic rules suitable for position lights.
