Scope

This standard specifies the standard test model and its application for evaluating the surface sliding performance of single-use non-vascular catheters (hereinafter referred to as catheters).
The model specified in this standard is applicable to the evaluation of catheters that are introduced into the body and are equipped with a lubricating coating or claim to be super-slippery (low resistance).
Note: Appendix A provides examples of methods for evaluating the sliding performance of catheters using this model.
