Scope

This document provides general principles for the regular inspection of atmospheric pressure storage tanks (including tank foundations), annual inspections, comprehensive inspections, risk-based inspections, evaluations and conclusions, as well as inspection cycles.
This document is applicable to the inspection of vertical cylindrical steel welded atmospheric pressure storage tanks designed for oil, petroleum products, or liquid chemical media with a design pressure (or, if the design pressure is unknown, the maximum pressure in the gas phase space at the top of the tank, i.e., gauge pressure) greater than or equal to -490 Pa and less than 0.1 MPa, and a nominal volume greater than or equal to 100 m3.
This document is not applicable to the inspection of storage tanks for media with extreme and high toxicity levels.
