Scope

This standard specifies the methods and procedures for sample collection and storage, pretreatment, analysis and testing, quality assurance, and data processing of 16 polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in seawater.
This standard is applicable to the determination of naphthalene, acenaphthene, anthracene, fluorene, phenanthrene, anthracene, fluoranthene, pyrene, benzo(a)anthracene, benzo(b)fluoranthene, benzo(k)fluoranthene, benzo(a)pyrene, dibenzo(a,h)anthracene, benzo(ghi)perylene, and indeno(1,2,3-cd)pyrene in seawater using solid-phase extraction gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. It is also applicable to the determination of 16 PAHs in surface water and groundwater.
