Scope
This document describes a method for determining the ammonia and other volatile amines released from photographic rinsing wastewater using strong alkali, with the results expressed in nitrogen. This method is suitable for determining the ammonia concentration in typical photographic rinsing wastewater with a range of 10 mg/L to 200 mg/L or a nitrogen concentration range of 8 mg/L to 160 mg/L. Other volatile amines are usually assumed to be ammonia, but their concentrations in photographic rinsing wastewater are generally very low.
