Scope: This document specifies the terms and definitions related to the environmental conditions of Amorphophallus spp. in its production areas, as well as requirements for suitable production regions and cultivation environments. This document applies to the selection of production areas for Amorphophallus spp. Main technical content: 1. Terms and definitions The following terms and definitions apply to this document. 1.1 Amorphophallus spp. A wild type of Amorphophallus native to the southwestern border of China and adjacent tropical forests in South and Southeast Asia. It mainly originates from Maitake, which is obtained through repeated screening, separation, and cultivation. This type of Amorphophallus produces aerial small tubers at the tips of leaf petioles and at the forks of leaf veins, while its underground tubers are yellow. 2. Selection of suitable production regions 2.1 Climate North tropical and South Asian monsoon climates; the annual average temperature for growth should be 22°C–28°C, with an extreme minimum temperature of 9°C, an average minimum temperature of over 12°C in the coldest month, and an average maximum temperature of under 30°C in the hottest month; annual rainfall should exceed 1,000 mm; annual average sunshine duration should exceed 1,800 hours; and the frost-free period should exceed 300 days. 2.2 Geographical regions The production areas of Amorphophallus spp. should be selected in geographical regions with an altitude of 100 m–1,400 m, preferably on south-facing, southwest-facing, or southeast-facing slopes with a slope of less than 15°, facing the sun and avoiding shaded or low-lying areas. 3. Cultivation environment 3.1 Light The shading level should be determined based on temperature and light intensity. In areas with higher temperatures and stronger sunlight, the shading level should be 60%–80%; in areas with weaker light and lower temperatures, the shading level should be 40%–60%. 3.2 Air quality
