Scope

This document specifies the requirements, operation and maintenance, marking, packaging, transportation, and storage of desulfurization devices for marine diesel engines.
This document is applicable to the design, manufacture, and inspection of wet desulfurization devices for marine diesel engines using sodium hydroxide (NaOH), magnesium hydroxide [Mg(OH)2], magnesium oxide (MgO), etc. as desulfurization agents (hereinafter referred to as "desulfurization devices"). Desulfurization devices for marine fuel boilers or other combustion equipment can be used as a reference for application.
