Scope

This standard specifies the structural design, construction monitoring, and operational requirements for water intake and discharge tunnels in nuclear power plants. This standard applies to the structural design of reinforced concrete water intake and discharge tunnels constructed primarily by excavation, drilling and blasting, and shield tunneling methods. The structural design of similar tunnels, underground culverts, and ditches in nuclear power plants can also be referenced for implementation. However, it does not apply to the structural design of directly buried precast concrete pipes and water intake and discharge tunnels lined with steel plates in rock and soil bodies, nor to the design of primary support during the drilling process of water intake and discharge tunnels.
