Scope

This standard specifies the requirements for raw materials, inspection requirements, and the evaluation of quenching microstructure grades for commonly used medium-carbon carbon structural steel and medium-carbon alloy structural steel.
This standard applies to the inspection and evaluation of the microstructure of parts made from medium-carbon carbon structural steel and medium-carbon alloy structural steel after quenching and tempering.
This standard does not apply to the evaluation of the microstructure of parts made from medium-carbon carbon structural steel and medium-carbon low-alloy structural steel after quenching and tempering that contain decarburization or overheating, as well as the evaluation of the microstructure in the isothermal quenching state.
