Scope

This standard specifies two methods for the determination of vitamin B5 (pantothenic acid) and provitamin B5 (D-panthenol) in cosmetics: high-performance liquid chromatography with ultraviolet detection and high-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry.
This standard is applicable to the quantitative determination of vitamin B5 (pantothenic acid) and provitamin B5 (D-panthenol) in cosmetics. The detection limit of high-performance liquid chromatography with ultraviolet detection for pantothenic acid and D-panthenol is 30 μg/g, and the quantitative limit is 100 μg/g. The detection limit of high-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry for pantothenic acid and D-panthenol is 30 ng/g, and the quantitative limit is 100 ng/g.
