Scope

Scope: This standard specifies the terms and definitions, planting range, cultivation, field management, and utilization of Pueraria wallichii (Xumi Ge) for forage production in western Yunnan. Establishment 5.1 Site Selection - Suitable soils for planting include all soil types within the cultivation range. - For new planting sites with a slope of less than 15°, full plowing is recommended. The plowing depth should be at least 25 cm. After drying for 1–2 days, apply 600–750 kg/hm2 of calcium phosphate as base fertilizer. Then harrow the soil 2–3 times to break up clods and mix the fertilizer while removing weeds. For sites with a slope of more than 15° or those used for grassland reseeding, strip tillage is recommended. Before tillage, remove surface vegetation by mowing or burning. Along the contour lines, dig 25 cm deep trenches at intervals of 1 m, apply 600–750 kg/hm2 of calcium phosphate as base fertilizer to the trenches, and cover with soil. 5.3 Planting Time - Direct seeding should be done between May and August. Seedling transplantation should be carried out between June and September. 5.4 Seed Quantity - Pueraria wallichii is suitable for mixed planting with subtropical grasses. The grass seeding rate should be 15–22.5 kg/hm2. For Pueraria wallichii strip sowing, the rate is 30–45 kg/hm2; for hole sowing, 8–10 seeds per hole with a total rate of 25–30 kg/hm2. The grass seeding quality must meet the Grade III standard of GB 6142 for grass seeds, and the Pueraria wallichii seed quality must meet the Grade III standard of GB 6141-
