Scope

Main Technical Content: 4.1 Seed Purity: The purity of the seed must be 99.9% or higher, and only seeds used in the same year should be used. 4.2 Seed Treatment: 4.2.1 Sun-drying before sowing (2–3 days) can increase enzyme activity and improve seed germination and germination rate. 4.2.2 Seed soaking: Soak the seeds in 55°C warm water or 1–2% lime water for 1–2 hours. 4.3 Site Selection for Seed Production: To ensure seed quality, the site for seed production must not have been used to grow other varieties of the same crop within the past 2 years, nor any other cereal crops within the past year. There should be no sorghum planted within 500m of the site. 4.4 Seedbed Selection: Choose a site with convenient irrigation, sheltered from the wind, level soil, fertile soil, and no pollution for the seedbed. 4.5 Seedbed Preparation: 4.5.1 After harvesting the previous crop, plow and harrow the land, and spread some green manure or purple clover, arrow-tongued peas, or rapeseed on the field. 15 days before sowing, plow and harrow the land again, remove weeds, stones, and other impurities, and apply manure before leveling and compacting the soil. 4.6 Seedling Production: 4.6.1 Sowing: Prepare the seedbed by digging furrows and spreading the seeds evenly on the furrows, watering them, and covering them with a layer of fine soil about 0.5cm thick. Cover the seedbed with agricultural film and erect a greenhouse to maintain temperature and humidity after seedlings emerge. 4.6.2 Nutrient Blocks: Place a layer of isolation material at the bottom of the seedbed, mix in sufficient watered nutrient soil, and spread it evenly on the seedbed, 5–6cm thick. Level and compact it, then cut it into 6cm square nutrient blocks with a wooden board and knife, planting 3 seeds in each block and covering them with fine soil. Water them and cover the seedbed with agricultural film to maintain temperature and humidity. Erect a greenhouse after sorghum seedlings emerge.
