Scope

This standard provides users with technical support and detailed information for securely and effectively implementing the 3DEA operation mode to enhance data encryption protection. The 3DEA operation mode described here is used for encryption and decryption operations. The mode described in this standard is an implementation of the group cipher operation mode using the 3DEA operation specified in ISO/IEC 180333 (specified in ISO/IEC 10116).
The 3DEA operation mode can be used in application systems for financial wholesale and retail businesses. This standard provides the basis for product interoperability and the development of application standards using the 3DEA operation mode. This standard will be used in conjunction with other ISO standards that use DEA.
