Scope
This standard specifies the methods for determining the Type II fracture toughness of unidirectional fiber-reinforced plastic composites using the calibrated end-load splitting test (C-ELS) and the effective crack length method.
This standard is applicable to thermoset and thermoplastic composites reinforced with carbon fiber or glass fiber.
The scope of application of this standard is not limited to these types of fibers and layup methods. Laminated boards with other types of fibers or layups can be used for reference.
