Scope

This standard specifies the materials, design, structure, and installation of railings on cargo ships (hereinafter referred to as railings), as well as their manufacturing and completion quality.
This standard applies to railings installed on the open-air bulwark decks and superstructure decks of cargo ships, which are designed to prevent people from falling overboard or onto lower decks.
This standard does not apply to railings installed near compasses.
