Scope

Scope: This standard specifies the terms and definitions of animal welfare for waterfowl (ducks, geese, and mallards), including the sources of chicks, feeding and watering, farming environment, husbandry management, health, transportation, humane slaughter, feather plucking, processing, and basic requirements for record-keeping and traceability. This standard applies to the entire process of animal welfare management for waterfowl during farming, transportation, slaughter, feather plucking, and processing. Main technical content: This standard consists of terms and definitions, chicks, feeding and watering, farming environment, husbandry management, health, transportation, humane slaughter, feather plucking, and record-keeping and traceability. In the section on chicks, requirements are set for the sources and disposal of chicks. In the section on feeding and watering, requirements are set for feed, feeding, and watering.
