Scope
This standard sets out the minimum requirements for acceptable downhole safety valves (SSSVs), covering all components of the downhole safety valves. The tolerances and clearances of these components can affect the performance or interchangeability of the downhole safety valves. It also includes maintenance operations and interfaces related to flow control equipment, but does not involve connections to downhole tubing strings.
Note: Downhole safety valves are an emergency safety device and are not designed for operations such as reducing production/injection rates or shutting down production. They also cannot be used as reflux valves.
