Scope

This standard specifies the types, requirements, inspection methods, inspection rules, marking, packaging, transportation, and storage of marine oil lubricated stern tube bearings (hereinafter referred to as "stern tube bearings").
This standard applies to the design, manufacture, and acceptance of stern tube bearings for shaft systems where the distance between the stern shaft centerline and the water surface is not greater than 20 m, the linear velocity is 2.0 m/s to 10 m/s, the bearing specific pressure is not greater than 0.8 MPa, and the operating temperature is not higher than 65 °C.
