Scope

This document specifies the method for conducting hydraulic performance acceptance tests (including cavitation tests) using a small-sized pump (centrifugal pump, mixed-flow pump, and axial-flow pump, hereinafter referred to as model pump). This document is applicable to pump acceptance tests conducted with geometrically similar model pumps to ensure the performance of large-sized pumps (hereinafter referred to as prototype pumps) manufactured for actual use. However, this document does not preclude temporary overall inspections or other tests of prototype pumps. It is also considered preferable to conduct prototype pump tests, unless limited by the following conditions: — The pump's capacity (pump flow and/or pump input power) exceeds the limits of the test facility, although it is difficult to establish criteria for replacing prototype pump tests with model pump tests based on flow or power; — A component of the pump is a concrete structure, making it impractical to replicate it in its entirety; — The buyer specifies the conduct of model tests; — For other reasons, conducting prototype pump tests is difficult. This document applies to performance tests conducted under stable operating conditions corresponding to those of prototype pumps.
