Scope

This standard specifies the method and test conditions for determining the molecular weight and distribution of polymer-based water treatment agents using gel filtration chromatography (GFC).
This standard is applicable to determining the relative average molecular weight and molecular weight distribution of water-soluble polymer scale inhibitors and dispersants in water treatment agents. It is suitable for measuring the molecular weight distribution of polymer-based water treatment agents with a range of 100 to 30,000.
This standard is not applicable to water-soluble polymers that interact with the mobile phase or separation materials through reactions, absorption, or adsorption.
