Scope

This standard applies to solid-state photodiodes (PD) or photodiode arrays (PDA) used in scintillation detectors or Cherenkov detectors. The test methods recommended in this standard are also applicable to avalanche photodiodes (APD), but additional special test methods described in this standard are required.
The tests described in this standard are not mandatory, but it is advisable to conduct the tests of specified performance according to the procedures described herein.
The purpose of this standard is to establish standard test methods for photodiodes used in scintillation detectors, and at the same time, it stipulates the data that suppliers should provide for each type of photodiode.
