Scope

Scope: This document specifies the technical requirements for the selection and combination of parents in mango hybrid breeding, the hybridization process and requirements, the harvest and processing of hybrid fruits, the determination of excellent single plants, and the establishment of technical files. This document is applicable to mango hybrid breeding in Yunnan. Main technical content: 1. Terms and definitions: There are no terms or definitions that need to be defined in this document. 2. Selection and combination of parents 2.1 Selection of parents: Select mature mango plants with desired traits as parents based on breeding objectives, ensuring that the ecological types of the two parents are significantly different and free from diseases and pests. 2.2 Parental compatibility: The two parents should have good hybrid compatibility, and the female parent should be able to produce normal fruit. 2.3 Parental traits: Both parents should have outstanding advantages and complementary main traits, with at least one prominent target trait. 2.4 Parental flowering period: Both parents should have normal flower development, with the male parent having sufficient available pollen and the female parent having a sufficient number of well-developed flowers suitable for pollination. The selected parents should have consistent flowering periods, or the male parent's flowering period should be earlier than the female parent's. If the flowering periods are not consistent, measures such as adjusting the flowering period can be taken to align them. 3. Hybridization process and requirements 3.1 Development of a hybridization plan: Based on the breeding objectives and the flowering and pollination habits of the parents, a detailed hybridization plan should be developed, including mating design, number of hybrid combinations, number of flowers per combination, and scheduling. 3.2 Tool preparation: Tweezers, scissors, test tubes with holes, gauze nets, sulfuric
