Scope
This standard provides guidance for the FMEA process in the design of thin-walled bearing bushes for internal combustion engines (the FMEA for the production process is the responsibility of the supplier). The standard lists common failure modes, their potential effects, and potential causes.
For each application, each manufacturer, and each user, specific provisions can be made for the numerical assessment of the risk of failure occurrence, severity, and detection.
Since it is necessary to evaluate each case, the risk data are not included in this standard. General guidelines for statistical evaluation can be obtained from the references.
