Scope

This standard specifies the reagents and materials, instruments and equipment, analytical procedures, result calculation, recovery rate and precision, and allowable deviations for the determination of the content of sulfites and hydrogen sulfites in cosmetics by titration and ion chromatography.
Note: Users should select titration or ion chromatography based on the configuration of their instruments and equipment. If the results are inconsistent, the results obtained by ion chromatography shall prevail.
This standard is applicable to the determination of the content of sulfites and hydrogen sulfites in cosmetics.
For the titration method, the quantitative limit for sulfites and hydrogen sulfites is 50 mg/kg, and for the ion chromatography method, the detection limit is 2 mg/kg and the quantitative limit is 10 mg/kg.
