Scope

Main technical content: 1. Effects of different temperatures on mint production. The optimum temperature for mint production is 15°C to 28°C. Within this temperature range, the survival rate of mint is the highest, the production cycle is the shortest, and the growth is the most vigorous. Below 15°C or above 28°C, mint growth slows down significantly, the production cycle becomes longer, and the growth is weaker. 2. Cutting propagation technology for mint. During the mint growing season, upright stem cuttings are used. Cuttings should be taken from the upper half of upright stems, with a length of 5cm to 7cm and at least two nodes. The lower node should have all leaves removed, and the upper node should have 2/3 of its leaves trimmed. The cuttings are planted in 128-hole or 72-hole seedling trays. (1) Determination of seedling tray specifications. Cuttings were placed in 50-hole, 72-hole, 128-hole, and 200-hole seedling trays, and the growth of mint was compared. The results showed that 72-hole or 128-hole trays are the best for seedling propagation, with the strongest growth of mint, the shortest time for complete root network formation, and higher survival rates when transplanted into pots. Cuttings in 200-hole trays had limited growth and weakened vigor, while those in 50-hole trays showed better growth and higher survival rates, but with a longer time to reach marketable pot size. Considering the cost and cycle of seedling production, the 50-hole tray is not recommended. (2) Effect of cutting length on survival rate. Cuttings with lengths of 5cm, 7cm, and 10cm from the top of upright stems were selected. The results showed that cuttings with lengths of 5cm and 7cm had higher survival rates with no significant difference, while cuttings with a length of 10cm were too long, leading to excessive nutrient consumption and lower survival rates. 3.
