Scope

This standard specifies the general requirements, detection methods, and defect determination and grading for ultrasonic testing of butt welded joints in P91 steel pressure equipment. This standard is applicable to the detection of defects in butt welded joints of P91 steel pressure equipment using A-type pulse reflection ultrasonic flaw detectors. This standard is not applicable to the ultrasonic testing of circumferential butt welded joints in pressure equipment pipes and pipelines with an outer diameter of less than or equal to 159 mm.
