Scope

This standard specifies the quantitative techniques for determining the activity of radionuclides using various ionization chambers currently available. The application of this standard is limited to instruments that include a well-type ionization chamber as a detector. It is a complex system that includes an ionization chamber and appropriate circuitry connected to it, which converts the ionization chamber current into a reading in units of activity. This standard provides a method for obtaining measurements with an accuracy of no more than ±6% and a repeatability of no more than 2% (usually for radioactive sources greater than 3.7×106 Bq (100 μCi)).
