Scope

This standard specifies the terms and definitions, test systems, test methods, and result calculations for the heat exchange and fluid resistance tests of heat exchangers used in household refrigerators and similar appliances. This standard applies to heat exchangers used in household refrigerators and similar appliances, such as plate-tube heat exchangers, wire-tube heat exchangers, finned heat exchangers, swirling fin heat exchangers, blow-molded heat exchangers, side-wall heat exchangers, and micro-channel heat exchangers. The test medium applicable to this standard is typically water in the pipe and air outside the pipe. This standard does not apply to heat exchangers where the test medium outside the pipe is a liquid.
