Main Technical Content: 3. Terms and Definitions The following terms and definitions apply to this document. 3.1 Selenium-Enriched Mutton In the natural growth process of animals, to meet the nutritional needs for healthy growth and production performance, micro-nutrient premixes (nutritional licks) are added to their diets according to national or industry feeding standards. Through biological conversion, the selenium in the selenium-enriched diet is absorbed and deposited in mutton and its internal organs as organic selenium (not external selenium preparations added during slaughtering, processing, or packaging). The total selenium content in the mutton meets the indicators specified in this document. 3.2 Selenium-Enriched Edible Viscera Products that meet the claims in 3.1 and are edible internal organs (such as "mutton offal") naturally rich in or biologically converted selenium, based on people's dietary habits, after slaughtering and dissecting livestock (including heart, liver, lung, stomach, intestine, kidney, etc.), with a total selenium content meeting the indicators specified in this document. 4 Basic Principles This document only specifies the total selenium content requirements for selenium-enriched mutton and edible viscera. The environmental quality of their production areas, drinking water, feed and feed additives, veterinary drugs, management practices, hygiene and epidemic prevention, and slaughtering and processing should comply with the relevant regulations of national or local competent authorities. 5 Target Requirements 5.1 Total Selenium Content in Selenium-Enriched Mutton and Edible Viscera 5.1.1 The selenium content in selenium-enriched mutton should meet the indicators specified in Table 2.
