This document specifies the safety requirements for electric motor-compressors used in household and similar applications.
This document applies to enclosed (fully enclosed and semi-enclosed) electric motor-compressors used in household and similar equipment, and their protection and control systems (if any), which must comply with the standards applicable to the corresponding equipment. This document applies to electric motor-compressors with a rated voltage of single-phase not exceeding 250 V, and other voltages not exceeding 600 V, subject to separate testing of the electric motor-compressors under the most severe conditions during normal use.
This document also applies to the following types of electric motor-compressors:
—— Multi-speed electric motor-compressors, which can be set to different speeds.
—— Variable-capacity electric motor-compressors, which can control their capacity at a fixed speed.
