This standard specifies the technical requirements for personnel conducting metallographic inspections before and after heat treatment, as well as during the heat treatment process; relevant equipment; sampling and preparation of samples; microstructural observation; microstructural inspection; preparation of metallographic photographs; original records; sample disposal; on-site metallographic inspections; inspection reports; and safety and environmental protection. This standard applies to metallographic inspections of heat-treated workpieces using optical metallographic microscopes.
