Abstract
This standard specifies the terms and definitions, classification, raw materials, requirements, test methods, inspection rules, packaging, storage, and transportation of fiberglass-reinforced asphalt shingles (referred to as asphalt shingles). This standard applies to asphalt shingles that are primarily made from petroleum asphalt, with the addition of mineral fillers. They use fiberglass felt as the base layer and are coated with protective materials on the upper surface. These shingles are designed for use in sloped roofing applications requiring lapped installation methods.
