GB/T 23986-2009 Paints and varnishes—Determination of volatile organic compound(VOC)content—Gas-chromatographic method
Abstract
This standard is one of a series of standards related to the sampling and testing of paints, varnishes, and related products.
This standard specifies a method for determining the content of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in paints, varnishes, and their raw materials, which is mainly applicable to samples with an expected VOC content greater than 0.1% (by mass) and less than 15% (by mass). When the VOC content is greater than 15% (by mass), the simpler method specified in GB/T 23985 can be used to determine its content.
This method assumes that the volatiles are water or organic substances. However, there may also be other volatile inorganic compounds, which may require quantitative determination using other appropriate methods and deduction in the calculation.
