The following content replaces the corresponding chapter of GB/T 4706.1—2024:
This document specifies the safety of electric washing machines intended for washing clothes and textiles for household and similar purposes.
This document applies to electric washing machines for household and similar purposes with a rated voltage of not more than 250 V for single-phase appliances, and not more than 480 V for other appliances.
This document also specifies the safety of electric washing machines for household and similar purposes that use electrolyte solutions instead of detergents. Appendix CC specifies additional requirements for such appliances.
Note 101: For washing machines equipped with electric wringers, the guidance given in Appendix DD can be used to ensure that their electrical protection and thermal hazards meet acceptable levels.
This document also applies to appliances that are not intended for general household use but may still pose a danger to the public, such as appliances intended for use by non-professionals in shops, light industry, and farms.
Note 102: For example, washing machines used in apartment buildings or laundry rooms.
In practical terms, this document addresses the common hazards posed by washing machines that people encounter in residential and surrounding environments. However, generally speaking, this document does not consider the following situations:
