This document applies to empty shells (hereinafter referred to as "shells") provided by shell manufacturers before switchgear and control equipment components are installed by equipment manufacturers. This document specifies the definitions, classifications, performance, and test requirements for low-voltage switchgear and control equipment shells (e.g., those that comply with the IEC 61439 series of product standards). Their rated voltage is not more than 1,000 V AC or 1,500 V DC, and they are suitable for indoor or outdoor applications. Note 1: Additional requirements may apply for special applications. Note 2: The shells in this document are suitable for the installation of electrical components. This document does not apply to shells mentioned in other specific product standards (such as IEC 60670-24). The equipment manufacturer is responsible for ensuring that the final products produced using the shells comply with the safety requirements of the corresponding product standards. Note 3: This document can be used as a basic standard for other technical committees.
