Abstract
Addition: This dedicated standard specifies the safety requirements for ultrasound therapy equipment using unit transducers in medical practice, as defined in 2.1.101. This dedicated standard does not apply to: — equipment driven by ultrasound and used as tools (such as equipment for surgery and dentistry); — equipment that uses focused ultrasound pulse waves to crush aggregates such as kidney or bladder stones (lithotripters) (see GB 9706.22—2003); — ultrasound therapy equipment that uses focused ultrasound waves.
