This document specifies the DLMS/COSEM wired and wireless M-Bus communication configuration for local and community networks.
The setup and management of M-Bus communication channels and M-Bus networks for M-Bus devices, as well as the registration of slave devices and (if necessary) repeaters, are beyond the scope of this document.
The scope of this communication configuration standard is limited to the application aspects of the communication protocol in combination with the COSEM data model and the DLMS/COSEM application layer. The data structures specific to the communication protocol are beyond the scope of this document. Any project-specific data structures and data content can be provided by the supporting specifications of the specific project.
Appendix A provides information on the M-Bus frame structure, addressing scheme, and encoding examples.
Appendix B specifies the COSEM interface classes used to establish and manage wired and wireless M-Bus communication channels.
Appendix C provides the MSC (Message Sequence Chart) of a typical communication example.
