GB/T 21796-2008

This standard specifies the method outline, test preparation, test procedure, quality assurance and quality control, data and reporting for the respiration inhibition test of chemical substances in activated sludge. This standard is applicable to most water-soluble, low-volatile, and easily retained substances in water bodies; it is not applicable to substances that may decompose through phosphorylation under oxygen action. For substances with limited water solubility, it may not be possible to determine the half-effective concentration. This standard provides a rapid screening method to identify which substances may have adverse effects on aerobic microorganisms in wastewater treatment plants, and to provide corresponding non-inhibitory concentrations of test substances for biodegradation tests.
