This document specifies a naming system for polypropylene (PP) thermoplastic materials, which can serve as a basis for classification.
Different types of polypropylene thermoplastic materials are distinguished by a classification system based on the values of the specified characteristic properties and their recommended applications and/or processing methods, important properties, additives, colorants, fillers, and reinforcing materials:
a) Tensile elastic modulus;
b) Notched impact strength of simply supported beams;
c) Melt flow rate (MFR).
This document applies to all propylene homopolymers and other propylene copolymers with a mass fraction of 1-olefin monomer less than 50%, as well as blends of the aforementioned polymers with a mass fraction of not less than 50%.
This document applies to materials that are typically supplied in powder, granular, or crushed form, either unmodified or modified with colorants, additives, fillers, etc.
This document does not apply to propylene-based rubbers.
This document does not imply that materials with the same name must necessarily have the same properties. It does not provide the engineering data, performance data, or processing condition data required to illustrate the special applications and/or processing methods of the materials.
If necessary, these additional properties can be determined using the test methods specified in GB/T 2546.2.
To illustrate the special applications of a certain polypropylene thermoplastic material or to ensure the reproducibility of processing, additional requirements can be given in character group 5.
