This standard applies to the protection of people and animals against electric shocks. Its purpose is to provide the basic principles and requirements that are common to electrical devices, systems, and equipment, or that are necessary for their coordinated operation. This standard does not set any voltage restrictions for devices, systems, and equipment. The requirements specified in this standard are only applicable to those requirements that are incorporated or referenced in relevant standards. This standard is not intended to be used as a standalone standard.
